SCIENTIFIC STATION ROUTES

– ACTIVITIES –

  • Day 1: The tour starts after breakfast at 09:00 a.m. when we get on a private vehicle for about 2 hours until we reach the scientific station of Limoncocha. We cross the Limoncocha Lagoon by motorized canoe to reach the Eco Lodge at Supay Cocha where we will spend the 3 days and 2 nights. After lunch, we have a 4-hour hike in the primary jungle, the guide explains about medicinal plants, different palm trees and centenary trees, the highlight of the visit is the giant ceibo tree. 

  • Day 2: At 06:00 a.m. we visit the harpy eagle sanctuary where we can watch the mother with its baby in the nest. In the afternoon we have a walk in the primary jungle to discover plants and wildlife. After dinner we have a nocturnal boat trip to spot black caimans. 

  • Day 3: We had out at 05:30 a.m. to watch birds and monkeys on the lagoon. The list includes: Stinking turkey (Hoatzin), Osprey (Águila pescadora), Horned Screamer (Anhima Cortuna). Wattled Jacana (Jacana Jacana), Greater Ani (Garrapatero mayor), Limpkin (Carrao), Red Capped Cardinal, Kingfisher (Martin Pescador), Cocoi Heron, Fasciated Tiger Heron, Neotropical Cormorant, darters o snake birds (Aninga Anbinga), woodpeckers etc.

After a good breakfast, we get to the Scientific Station from where we get back to Coca by private vehicle where the tour ends about 1 p.m.
