Psittacidae - Psittacidae are a family of psittaciform birds, commonly called parrots or parrots, which includes macaws. These species are found mainly in tropical and subtropical areas. Parrots, parrots, macaws and parakeets need to keep toxins within their system, as a result of ingesting a variety of different nuts and seeds, to manageable levels. This is where clay licks come into play in salt licks. Salt licks are special sites, where there is an abundance of soil with minerals, particularly sodium, which helps to neutralise the toxins that develop as a result of the diet of these species.
