The Sumaco Napo Galeras National Park (PNSNG) is one of the protected areas of the Sumaco National Biosphere System (RBS), was created in 1994 and is considered one of the most outstanding wilderness areas in Ecuador. The BSR was declared by UNESCO after a participatory process, covers an area of 1 million hectares, includes the provinces of Napo, Orellana and Sucumbíos, and covers 8% of the Amazon region. The core zone belongs to the Sumaco National Park of the Ecuadorian Protected Areas System. The BSR covers seven bioclimatic floors ranging from humid tropical at 600 m.a.s.l. to cold humid at 3,732 m.a.s.l. Andean páramo…The trekking to the summit of the volcano is a challenge not an act for every person who wants to do it since the ascent offers a difficulty, having a good physical condition and walking pace.
