General summary:
An ‘8-day, 7-night excursion’ is a trip that lasts a full week, offering the opportunity to discover and explore a particular destination in three different wildlife reserves in Yasuni National Park. The duration allows for a deeper immersion in the destination, visiting different places and enjoying activities such as hiking, mixed wildlife viewing, river navigation, and accommodation in three different EcoLodge:

Covering an area of 56,000 hectares, with two lagoons and the splendid Pañayacu River canyon, it is ideal for sighting more than 495 species of birds, nine species of monkeys, amphibians, insects and mammals, and is rich in biodiversity in terms of fauna and flora.

Declared a Ramsar site by UNESCO in 1998. With an area of 46.13 km, its lagoon is 7 km long and 3 km wide and is home to the black caiman (Melanosuchus Niger) and a bird sanctuary. To take this tour to Yasuni National Park, we recommend taking a bus from the Quitumbe bus terminal in Quito and travelling to the city of Coca. You will arrive in the afternoon the day before and stay at a hostel or hotel of your choice... Or you can buy a Quito/Coca plane ticket. The meeting point will be at the airport in the city of Coca or at your accommodation.
Next, transfer by private vehicle to the Napo River pier, from where we will depart in a private motorized canoe, sailing down the Napo River for 4 hours and 30 minutes to the Pañacocha Canyon... During the trip to the lodge, you will be able to appreciate the fauna and flora of the Pañacocha Reserve. Check-in at the lodge, where we will stay for 2 nights and 3 days.
After lunch, we will go for a walk in the virgin jungle to discover its fauna and flora, accompanied by explanations from our naturalist guide... The day ends with dinner.
Breakfast will be at 6:00 a.m., followed by a long walk through the virgin jungle for 3 to 4 hours. This outing is special because, if we are lucky, we may encounter peccaries or jaguars, depending on how quietly and skilfully we walk and on the weather... A tour to discover the fauna and flora, observe large trees and enjoy natural viewpoints. In the afternoon, we will go rowing in a canoe through the Pañayacu River canyon for 3 hours. This outing offers the chance to see birds, monkeys, macaws, and, if we are very lucky, otters... After dinner, we will take a night walk in the jungle, which offers an immersive experience in an ecosystem transformed by night, allowing us to observe unique fauna and flora that only appear in the dark, such as amphibians and frogs, bioluminescent insects, and spiders. It also provides an opportunity to listen to the characteristic sounds of the night-time jungle, experience a deeper connection with nature, and learn about how animals adapt to the dark environment.
We recommend waking up before 6:00 a.m. to observe birds and monkeys around the lodge and listen to the howling of red howler monkeys (genus Alouatta) ... After breakfast, we will go rowing in a canoe through the Pañayacu River canyon and around two lagoons... This canoe trip offers silence where you can hear the wildlife around you, providing a spiritual retreat in itself. We will observe species of parrots, macaws, toucans, guans, cardinals, woodpeckers, Aninga, herons, hoatzins, turtles, and monkeys. If we are lucky, we may encounter otters (Pteronura Brasiliensis) and green anacondas (Eunectes murinus). This excursion will last the entire morning, returning by motorboat to the lodge.
After lunch, we will depart in a private canoe with all our luggage to the Napo River and sail for more than 2 hours to Yasuni National Park, where we will stay in another EcoLodge within a community for 3 more nights in the Curí Muyo sector.
Before the end of the afternoon, we will take a private canoe along the Napo River to the Curí Muyo trail. From here, we will take a short walk to the first 45-metre-high tower, where you can climb to the top of the platform and enjoy the beautiful landscape of the Yasuni's green mantle, observe bird and monkey species, and see the white sand beaches of the Napo River in all their natural splendour. The day ends with dinner.
Breakfast will be served before 6:00 a.m. Next, we will travel by private canoe down the Napo River to the first clay lick or collpas, a unique and special place where various species of parrots gather to feed on clay rich in minerals for rehydration, such as electrolytes, sodium, manganese, phosphorus, calcium, and potassium. This clay also neutralises toxins, such as alkaloids and tannins found in their diet...
Next, we walk for 45 minutes to the second mixed clay lick for parrots, scarlet macaws, and howler monkeys. At this site, we wait for the arrival of these species for 1 to 2 hours... Afterwards, we will take a 2 to 3-hour walk in the virgin jungle of Yasuni to discover its fauna and flora.
In the afternoon, we will go to the second 45-metre-high tower, where you can enjoy another spectacular view of Yasuni and its diverse wildlife. The day ends with dinner.
Breakfast will be at 6:00 a.m. Afterwards, there are two flexible tour options to choose from. Option #1. A 2-hour walk to a lagoon where we will take a rowboat to navigate the mangrove canyon and discover the wildlife. Option #2: Take a long walk through the virgin jungle where you may encounter peccaries, spider monkeys, or jaguars. Jaguar sightings are not guaranteed, but with a lot of luck, you may be able to spot one.
After lunch, we will take a private canoe down the Napo River for 1 hour to another EcoLodge in the Inti Llama sector. After settling into our rooms, there will be time before the end of the afternoon to explore the surroundings of the Lodge... Optional night walk along the banks of the Napo River.
Breakfast will be served at 5:45 a.m. Then, we will travel by private canoe along the Napo River for 1 hour to the Ila Cocha lagoon, where we will hike along a boardwalk and trails observing the wildlife and paddle a canoe on the lake.
After lunch, we will transfer to the Limoncocha Biological Reserve, where we will stay at another EcoLodge for two more nights. Before the end of the afternoon, we will go to a platform to observe the area's iconic birds and squirrel monkeys.
After dinner, we will take a night boat trip through the canyon and the large lake to see black caimans (Melanosuchus niger) and fireflies, a unique and magical spectacle.

After breakfast, we will go on a 3- to 4-hour hike in the virgin jungle, accompanied by explanations from our naturalist guide. The highlight of the tour is a visit to a giant Ceiba Pentandra tree... Before the end of the day, we will go to a platform to observe bird species, monkeys, Arapaima Gigas fish... Optional night walk.
At 5:45 a.m., we will take a private canoe to navigate the canyon and large lagoon for 3 hours. This outing is special for the emblematic sighting of bird species and howler monkeys.
Return to the lodge where we will serve breakfast. Next, we will take a canoe with all our luggage to the station, where we will continue by private vehicle to the city of Coca, where the 8-day/7-night tour ends.
